When did you really get to make a difference for someone else?

Well, funny thing happened tonight.  When I came home from Walgreens, DH was in the driveway with his corvette, and there was a bedraggled black teen with him.  I thought maybe it was one of Billy's friends, and thought nothing of it really.  I pulled into the garage, and next thing I know he's standing by my car saying "I'm not going to hurt you, please help me I got lost in the woods"  I took a good look at him and realized he was pretty young and wet and worn out.  Its very foggy here and I certainly can understand how he got lost.  The fog was so thick I had trouble finding the turn to my neighborhood on the way back from the drug store. 

Let me tell you I was a little scared at first, and with DH mouthing at me "why did you let him in" and the look of fear on his face told me that maybe we might be in a predicament.  The kid was talking fast and he was really hard to understand.  He explained that he and his brother went for a hike in the woods, and they got lost.  The brother decided to go one way, and the kid the other.  He said he lost his shoe when he walked into a lake.  It was dark out..but there is no lake near here.  There's a river though, and lots of swamp.  So here the poor guy was wandering around in the fog that was so thick you couldn't see your hand in front of you.  He was completely lost for almost 2 hours he said.  He was pretty shaken up.  I gave him my phone, and he couldn't figure out how to use it, so I dialed for him and he called his house.  His brother picked the correct route apparently, because he answer the phone.  His brother told me if I took him to the drugstore about a mile away, he could find his way home. 

Michael was in and out of the garage, obviously fretting...so I took him in the kitchen and said "lets take him there hon, he's cold and lost".  Michael was really apprehensive.  I  told him that if I  had wandered into an all black neighborhood, I  would hope that someone would be kind to me and help me out.  So we drove him. 

Now it feels like Christmas!

Have you figured out what your (or your kids') Halloween costume will be this year?  What's it going to be?

Well since I am bald and look pretty dang cool in pink I decided to wear a pink wig and do my makeup like  punk rocker!!
