But, I am finding that having best friends in real life eliminates the need to blog. Also severely cuts into blogging time!
(and photography time)
We went camping in Savanna IL, at seven eagles campground. It was such a great campsite, I'd definitely go back. When it is warmer!
These things came out of the ground when I pulled my frost killed ornamental sweet potato vines. They are edible, but bitter, so we aren't eating them! There were a lot. These are the ones I saved to photograph.
First time ever! Now I am in the photography stream of SU! woot woot! I hope that is a good thing. I'm going to be famous one day. In my own mind only maybe but that is good enough for me.
Brett Favre is a douche! I am proudly wearing my "We will never forget you Brent" tee shirt today. He needs a therapist.
Here is a shot of my mystery plant today...I took the camera to the nursery and they thought it might be a variety of Aster.
Ok the weather is beautiful, I've accomplished a lot today...updated facebook, twitter, Vox, took pictures, downloaded pictures, uploading currently to flickr...and I need to get outside. Times a wastin!
I miss them so much. It was a pleasure having them here, that's for sure. Lennon was just the sweetest little baby, such a happy little girl. She rarely cried. It was a pleasure to be in their company for a week. Kyle and Lennon are wonderful parents, and you can't help but feel enveloped in the love they exude.
Enjoy the pics..There will be more baby faces getting posted later, but for now, here are some fingers and toes.
I asked Nikki for advice shooting babies, and she said "pretend she is a flower mom". haha! I said, am I supposed to take macro shots of her? She said, shoot her hands, her feet... ok, I can do that! Kyle asked for some family portraits, maybe down by the river. We'll do that this afternoon, while the light is good and the skeeters aren't vicious!
Today I go see my family doc for a follow up for the fibromyalgia at 9:45. It is 8:55 and I am in my jammies. Lazy bones K. After that, I've got my monthly lunch/bitch meeting. Then the day is mine. We are going out for all you can eat crab legs tonight with the B's.
Here are some shots from yesterday's downloads.
This patch of petunias comes back by itself every year. I know they aren't perennials, but they think they are. The funny thing is, I bought and planted petunia plants this year, yet these that come back from seed came up after I planted, and are HUGE, the plants haven't taken hold and got going yet. I also have a patch of pink petunias down in the lower garden that came up on their own!
This is a zinnia bloom that is about done. I love how these flowers produce teeny tiny flowers in the centers, and they are even prettier than the dahlia centers!
The black eyed susans are doing wonderful as usual. I wish I could say the same about my laptop. The screen is flickering AGAIN, and it just came back from service a month ago for the exact same issue. I hate to send it in though, it is hard to part with, even for a few weeks. Time for another backup.
Here are some daisy close ups:
I planted these gorgeous orange cosmos in a line along the side of the strawberry patch. They are so beautiful (and I love my 105mm lens)
these glads are so beautiful. I had three bulbs leftover and was so tired from planting all the other bulbs, I just tossed this one and it's 2 mystery sisters into a pot, tossed some potting soil on top of them, planted a dahlia on the top, and voila! here they come. This is the first potted glads to bloom. The others throughout the garden are many different colors...
Ok I know the pink and white says Iris but it is a glad, I was corrected on flickr, actually, I wasn't sure what they were!
I have dahlias coming up everywhere! In all different flavors and colors!
Time to pick up the camera and see what is blooming today!
In some aspects, it was a waste of time, I didn't get a single thing done around the house today. My towel is still laying on the bathroom floor and I'm wearing pj pants and a nightgown because I can't find the top. So I neglected the housework, so what? The mess is driving me crazy but today was a perfect day. The weather couldn't have been nicer. John, the pro-shop manager at Edgewood, called and asked me if I would please send him pictures of the golf course asap, and I told him I'd do it Saturday during the GMO outing.
Then I got to thinking, today is PERFECT! There were thin wispy white puffs in the sky. It was such a beautiful shade of blue today, just perfect for shooting. I also figured they probably didn't want golfers in the pictures, so I kind of hopped around the golf course in one of their carts. I took 73 pictures, and I had a blast.
This is Fred on the left, he was smiling as usual. He stood right up and came after me for the camera to shoot me, but I said "hey!". Fred and Joanne own the golf course we play at, and their three kids are each employed at the course as superintendent, pro shop manager, resturant manager. John is actually the pro shop manager, he is the son in law. His wife is busy making babies. She used to golf on the LPGA! But now she's a mommy. I am sure Jack is already swinging a club at three years old. We love the family, and love being members at their golf club. If I told you what we paid in yearly memberships you wouldn't believe me, they certainly are not out to get anyone to "buy in" or buy shares. The cost is reasonable considering we go out 2-3 times a week when the weather cooperates. Oh, Edgewood also has 36 holes!
I'm getting side tracked, but I wanted to share about this family run business, they are awesome people.
Scenic is a town, not a route, and the route I intended to take was a gravel road (which I totally missed). We don't have a compass in the Jeep, so I had no idea that we were headed south instead of north. We ended up in Sharps Corner, almost at Wounded Knee, when I found out how lost I was!
But Scenic was a great town for photographs. It was dead dead dead. I'm not sure it is a ghost town, you could tell there were some humans that lived there, but we didn't see anything but birds and some cattle and a white bunny.
