But, I am finding that having best friends in real life eliminates the need to blog. Also severely cuts into blogging time!
(and photography time)
We went camping in Savanna IL, at seven eagles campground. It was such a great campsite, I'd definitely go back. When it is warmer!
These things came out of the ground when I pulled my frost killed ornamental sweet potato vines. They are edible, but bitter, so we aren't eating them! There were a lot. These are the ones I saved to photograph.
First time ever! Now I am in the photography stream of SU! woot woot! I hope that is a good thing. I'm going to be famous one day. In my own mind only maybe but that is good enough for me.
Brett Favre is a douche! I am proudly wearing my "We will never forget you Brent" tee shirt today. He needs a therapist.
Here is a shot of my mystery plant today...I took the camera to the nursery and they thought it might be a variety of Aster.
Ok the weather is beautiful, I've accomplished a lot today...updated facebook, twitter, Vox, took pictures, downloaded pictures, uploading currently to flickr...and I need to get outside. Times a wastin!
I asked Nikki for advice shooting babies, and she said "pretend she is a flower mom". haha! I said, am I supposed to take macro shots of her? She said, shoot her hands, her feet... ok, I can do that! Kyle asked for some family portraits, maybe down by the river. We'll do that this afternoon, while the light is good and the skeeters aren't vicious!
Today I go see my family doc for a follow up for the fibromyalgia at 9:45. It is 8:55 and I am in my jammies. Lazy bones K. After that, I've got my monthly lunch/bitch meeting. Then the day is mine. We are going out for all you can eat crab legs tonight with the B's.
Here are some shots from yesterday's downloads.
I entered a Photography Contest, and I was hoping you would click this link and vote for me!! This is my entry, and if you click on the link, I believe you can vote! And I will be eternally grateful!!
I ran across the motherload of beautiful weeds on the 10th hole. Giant thistles are blooming now. I know these plants are a pain in the butt, err legs, hands etc, when you touch them, but seriously, the buds and blooms are absolutely gorgeous! Take a peek.
I got the inspiration to take a waterfall picture from one of my flickr contacts.
And thats about it. For now. I've got a busy day ahead. Company at 5 for a cookout, I am picking up Nikki at 10 to work at the house. They bought a fixer upper, and she is just overwhelmed with the amount of work to do. DH, SS and I went over for about 3 hours yesterday and really knocked off a lot of the things that needed to be done. The kids are doing wall prep now, they've taken the wallpaper down (the entire house was papered in 1970's paper), spackeled and sanded most of the walls and have started to prime the walls. Yesterday, DH, SS and I tore up more carpet, removed staples from the subfloor, cleaned up all the paint chips on the floor from sanding..what a pain. I told Nick if he ever buys another house that needs so much work I would kick his ass. I can't blame Nik for being so overwhelmed. When it is just the 2 of them working on it, it must seem like it is going so slow.
So anyway, we are going to work from 10-2. Then rush home to shower, and prepare for the cookout. Did I mention that I haven't shopped yet?
lololol
It is finally spring here. We don't have much of a spring in Wisconsin, it happens every year. The weather turns from cold to hot seemingly overnight. There are days that I run both the heat and air conditioning. It will be cold when I wake up and hot by 2pm. But finally, I think we are in growing season.
I took a trip to the nursery yesterday to buy some flowers. I'm quite proud of myself, I only spent 46 dollars this trip! My garden is over planted. DH calls it my jungle.
Everything is just on the verge of blooming. My first lilies are open, I got a couple of shots of them.
It appears to me that they like more shade. The lilies I have planted in the front garden are budding, but these orange tigers are in the kitchen garden, which doesn't get but a few hours of sun a day. Yesterday I was going to buy a few hostas to plant in the veggie garden, but I see that they are shade loving, and my veggie garden is very sunny. Oh, it isn't a veggie garden anymore, it is a strawberry/flower garden. I have given up this year on planting veggies. I haven't had a successful year yet. But, I have strawberries galore. Michael and Ted built a chicken wire fence and put a net over top of it to protect the strawberries from the critters that ate them last year. It is working! I see TONS of frustrated birds trying to get at those lucious red beauties!
I see here that these hostas are mostly in the sun, so I think I am safe to plant a few in the veggie garden. Aw dang, I have to go back to the nursery!
We are about to have perfect growing and blooming weather, the ten day forecast is for afternoon thundershowers and 80 degree days! I am so looking forward to more blooms. As you can see above, my gerbera got a little whipped in the wind. Here are some "here they come" shots from around the garden.
I should make a list of things I have to do, but that will take time. Suffice it to say that yesterday I had dirty fingernails, and yesterday's dishes are still in the dishwasher waiting to be put away, along with DH's undies (how can he have any left?) in the laundry room. Lavy suggested he turn them inside out...haha! I HAVE to do some housework today!
Our new carpet ROCKS! Michael picked the darkest frizay (sp) for the living room, and I haven't had to vacuum since we've been home. Of course the maids have been here twice in three weeks (niceeeeee), but seriously, you can't see the dirt at all. The carpet color is all different shades of dirt, so that works in a house in the woods! It makes the colors on the walls look richer too.
So I am off to get started being a "good wife". Then I can play with my camera ;-0
I am already tired of shooting dahlias, the ones I bought at home depot are starting to look all the same once I download them. But here are a few anyway.
Hey, do you remember how long I procrastinated and how much I bitched about all those tulip bulbs I had to plant?
Well, it was worth it!
Three of the stitches fell out yesterday so an entire flap was hanging down and bone fragments were coming out onto my tongue and I thought "oh shit". I called the doc and he wanted me in by the evening so he could redo the stitches. My check feels like someone beat me to a pulp. The pain is controllable though.
This is a shot of our deck, you can see the river in the distance. Our trees are still not blooming.
Since we gave up gambling, we've been spending money on other things, more tangible stuff, here is a show of part of our deck furniture;
Here are some photographs I took yesterday, you can see the rest on my flickr. I think there is a link somewhere. The macros aren't loading right away so I will post them separate or something.
I joined a group on flickr with that title, and that is me to a T, capital T even! My eyes are different now, I see things that I probably would have missed before I took up this hobby, and I probably miss a lot of things I shouldn't (like stop signs) haha
She is definitely the same size as Ted!
Spring has sprung around here and my garden is all cleaned up and growing happily. I've got to apply fertilizer and mulch yet, but I want to wait until the babies get a little bit bigger. I had to chuckle at myself this evening, I went out to survey my handiwork and already I've worn a path in the garden. It is snakelike, walking through there right now is dangerous for the little guys that are just coming up.
Scott is here, he flew in for an emergency root canal. Lovely. That is his favorite word. At dinner tonight, the steak was lovely (five times) the asparagus with lime butter was lovely, the couscous was lovely! What a lovely word to have as "your" word. It sure is nice to have him here, I love him so much, and again with the distance thing. Sigh. Today he was talking about an episode Don had where Scott found him sitting in his car in the parking lot at work. All Don said was "Scott promise me you will take care of your mother if anything happens to me". That threw me into a mental tizzy I tell you. I don't want to think about that. I don't want to lose him, or Mom. But I did tell Scott that I have dibs on Mom. lol!!! We are so morbid.
Tomorrow I will take (and hopefully post here) some pictures from around my garden. I've got a few plants flowering, ones that I bought at Home Depot today, nothing in my garden has been growing long enough to flower, except the weeds. the phuckers.
This one made me blush when I opened it. But it is gorgeous. Happy belated Easter to all my Vox friends.
I love those close up lenses. I believe I had a 4x on for the above shot.
I am SO FREAKING EXCITED! I am GARDENING again, I have FLOWERS, I have material. I bought the most gorgeous ornamental dahlias, they are going to make fabulous macro shots! I can hardly wait to get outside and take pictures!!
Ok, calming myself down
