Who was the last person you offended?
Submitted by May.
This is easy, it was Nikki, on Saturday night. I walked into the kitchen as she was looking through a hallmark, ready made, just add pictures scrap book that my stepdaughter made for her mom for mothers day proclaiming "isn't this the prettiest thing you've ever seen?" I was talking about the Prayer Blanket. She thought I was talking about the scrapbook. You see she had made me one for my 50th suprise party. She said "aww Mom, what about the beautiful scrapbook I made for you for your birthday" She misunderstood me. If I could post the pages here, I would so you could see how lovely they are, but for some reason, they won't post.
Nikki, remember when you gave me the scrapbook and my reaction? (I cried like a baby) That too, was the prettiest thing ever, along with the sweetest thing, the most thoughtful and love filled gift I have ever received.
About misunderstandings...sigh.
I love you dearest daughter :))
edited 12:13 to include pictures I figured out how to upload!
What are your neighbors like? (The ones you live near or next to, not the ones in your Vox neighborhood!)
We think some of our neighbors are "swingers". Right before we moved into this subdivision, they had the annual neighborhood golf outing that started as a party on a Friday night. After a few hours and lots of drinks, some made references to the wife who got angry last year because of the skinny dipping in someone's pool. Someone else was talking about going to her house for a naked hot tub experience with another couple. Sure, it could have all been innocent, but there were so many references to nakedness and "sharing", well it just seemed to me and DH that "swinging" was optional here.
We associate more with the older neighbors who live to our immediate right and left, as we are pretty certain they wouldn't entertain swapping partners. The people who live to our right are in their 70's and the ones to our left are in their 60's. The rest of the 'hood, well, they are young people with little kids.
The golf outing was quite stupid. Some of the neighbors never stopped drinking. I mean all night. They showed up at the golf course blasted. This year they were driving golf carts through sand traps and over greens. I don't have much respect for people who don't respect my club. (yeah, I am a snot when it comes to golf course etiquette).
Other than TeamVox, who was the first person you added to your Vox neighborhood? What made you want to be their neighbor?

Nikki, my lovely daughter, was my first neighbor. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer back in August 2007, she suggested I start blogging about my journey to help me vent, and perhaps my writing might help someone else facing cancer. I'm not sure how long she's been voxing, but its been a few years now. And she was right, it did, and does help :))
LOL old picture, look, I have hair!
How often do you call your parents?
Just about every day. Unless I'm going through a "dry spell" and time gets away from me and then its been weeks since I called. (has happened in the past) Lately though, if Mom doesn't hear from me for 24 hours, my phone is ringing.
What one object/thing would you take if your house were on fire?
The dogs.

What are 10 things you've done that other people probably haven't?

1. I took a Greyhound bus from Lancaster PA to Los Angeles when I was 17. I went there to find myself. It took one month for me to realize I was more lost than before I left home.
2. Sold magazine subscriptions, door to door for three years, across the USA. I was part of a traveling sales group called Mecca, based out of Arlington TX. They targeted kids with their advertisements in the newspaper: Wanted, 18-25 year olds, single, and free to travel to all major cities of the United States. I brought my real dad along for the second job interview and he urged me to take it. My mother was NOT pleased. She and my stepdad tried to rescue me, but I wasn't having any part of it.
3. Ate half the worm at the bottom of a Mescal Tequila bottle. My boyfriend ate the other half. We polished the bottle off, found the worm and split it. By the time you are at the bottom of a Mescal bottle, worms don't matter. That episode cured me of alcohol. I was 19 then...
4. I took a train with my father to New York City for the World's Fair. I was 8. The only thing I remember about that trip was the train ride. I remember waking up and not seeing my Daddy and crying, he had gone to the bathroom. I don't remember the actual fair at all, and the pictures he took, well I don't recall ever seeing them.
5. I was one of the first three women put into the US Army's MOS 16Delta. My job was "Hawk Missile Crewman". In the branch of the military called Air Defense Artillery. This was as close as women had ever gotten to the front line. Luckily, I had enlisted during peacetime. :))
6. I was the cover girl for an issue of AAFES magazine in 1979. (because I was one of the first three women in a combat job) They had me pose in ridiculous positions that showed nothing of what my real job was: maintaining missile launchers and loading missiles. Instead they had me touching the missiles and control boxes. Amazingly enough, I actually found the article online. Here I am at 19 years old... Fort Bliss Texas Karen on the Cover of AAFES I can't believe I actually found this on the internet! The only copy that I had was misplaced by my ex sometime during our marriage.
7. Lived as the only woman on base in Giebelstadt Germany. (no, it was NOT good)
8. Got discharged from the Army for trying to send my brother a gumwrapper full of german hashish for a birthday present. I had begun to try to process out before this happened, as I just couldn't handle the emotional day to day stresses of being the only female on base in the middle of a sugar beet field in Germany. When my birthday card was intercepted, they sped up my discharge. I was given an Honorable Discharge. The reason was: Inability to Adjust.
9. I ran away from my family when my kids were 10 and 13. I came back in a month, but caused so much emotional damage to not only my nuclear family, but extended family also. To this day, I continue to hate myself for it, and try to be the best possible mother i can be to try and make it up to my kids.
10. I rescued shih tzu's for a year. We had more than 200 dogs pass through our home. I had to quit because of the politics involved in rescue organizations. I was in it for the dogs. At one time, we had 12 dogs in the house at once. I quit telling DH about new arrivals when we hit 10...I figured he wouldn't notice a few more.
